As you drive over rough surfaces on the road, the suspension moves up and down. Tech Note: What is bump steer, and why is it important?īump steer is a term used to describe how suspension travel effects your steering alignment. It will not fit most Firebirds with Pontiac engines without extensive modification to kit and vehicle. Please Note: This kit has been engineered for Camaros and will only fit 1967-1969 Firebirds if you have a Chevy engine. Parts included: Rack and pinion, Adapter bracket (adapts rack to chassis through A-arm bolts), Tie rod ends (Self cleaning & lubricating, PTFE lined), U-joint assembly, Power steering hoses, All required fasteners (grade-8) Steeroids® rack and pinion conversions are complete kits - all necessary parts are included with the exception of the power steering pump. Installs with basic hand tools in approximately 6-8 hours. Use your existing or readily available power steering pump and brackets. This is an entirely bolt on installation - absolutely no welding, cutting or drilling. As an added benefit you get a lighter weight steering system - Steeroids® saves up to 25 lbs when compared to the stock steering system! Steeroids® power rack and pinion conversions yield approximately 2.75 turns. Steering racks offer much quicker ratios over the stock, barge-like 4 turn lock-to-lock steering.
